yourself and for others.POSITION PURPOSE The Registered Nurse (RN)
is responsible for planning, organizing, coordinating, and
providing care to patients within the scope of practice and will
strive to provide these services in a compassionate, professional,
ethical and knowledgeable fashion. The RN role responsibilities
include, but are not limited to, the assessment, planning,
implementation, and evaluation of the patients' status, plan of
care, goal achievement, and input into process improvement. The RN
will coordinate care to create an attainable solution in an
efficient manner and also convey a positive image of the clinic and
exhibits values of respect, integrity, innovation, and compassion.
The Registered Nurse will assume the responsibility and
accountability for the application of the nursing process
throughout the delivery of patient care. The RN will provide
compassionate care in a competent and respectful manner with a goal
towards process improvement; coordination of care with an emphasis
on patient education and symptom management strategies.ESSENTIAL
FUNCTIONS 1. IV insertions, Port and PICC access, and phlebotomy.
2. Patient assessments, multidisciplinary care planning, detailed
patient education with an emphasis on pre and post treatment follow
up, side effects, precautions and self-care tips. Reinforces
education during every patient visit. 3. Verifies safety of ordered
medication doses and monitor patients for reactions to side effects
of therapy and intervene as necessary. 4. Knowledge about cancer
and treatment regimens and provide patient education: detailed
teaching for first-time chemotherapy risks and benefits of
treatment, side effects, precautions, and answer all questions
under the supervision of the physician. Follow up and reinforce
education for every patient visit. 5. Acts as a patient advocate
and monitor patient flow by, reviewing lab results, reporting
abnormal lab results, reporting patient symptoms and concerns to
the attending physician in a timely manner. 6. Acts as a patient
advocate and coordinates care with colleagues to ensure the work
flow of the clinic remains stable. 7. Documents medication
administration and captures charges for each patient visit.
Complete IV infusions on a high volume of patients throughout the
day and monitor multiple patients within a safe ratio. 8.
Coordinates care with multidisciplinary team to formulate care
plans and make recommendations for changes as needed to address for
health problems and follow-up care. 9. Performs review of
procedures and properly capture charges for each patient visit. 10.
Evaluates the quality of care provided and coordinates
recommendations for changes or improvements. 11. Acts as a teacher
and mentor to medical assistants and other colleagues. 12.
Chemotherapy administration, hydration and other medications as
prescribed. Monitors lab values and notifies physicians in a timely
fashion of abnormal values and patient condition changes. 13.
Accepts accountability for own practice through ethical and
professional conduct. Follows established policy and procedures to
reflect the centers mission, values and objectives. 14. Observe and
practice legal and ethical guidelines for safeguarding the
confidentiality of patient information and adherence to HIPPA
regulations. 15. Remains current on new therapies and industry
trends.WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed in a cancer treatment
center environment. It involves frequent contact with patients,
physicians, and other center staff. Work may be stressful at times.
Interaction with others is constant and with interruption. The
employee could be exposed to communicable disease, toxic
substances, medicinal preparations and other conditions that are
common to the clinical environment. Safety policies and good health
practices are expected to be understood and observed. The RN will
work in a fast-paced cancer treatment infusion area. Interaction
with patients, visitors and staff is a constant. Exposure to

observed.EDUCATION / CERTIFICATION At least 6 months Chemo
experience. License and current registration to practice in state
of California. ADN or BSN fromaccredited College of Nursing program
preferred. Bachelor's degree in nursing highly preferred. ONS is
