Job DescriptionAmerican Service Pets (www.americanservicepets.com), a nationwide company that networks with licensed healthcare professionals to provide emotional and psychiatric support animal letters to qualifying individuals, is seeking a contract dog trainer for a video project. The ideal candidate is based in Los Angeles CA, is comfortable on camera, and has demonstrated experience successfully training dogs to perform tasks for individuals who need mental health support and assistance.https://www.instagram.com/americanservicepets/https://www.facebook.com/americanservicepets Responsibilities

• Take an untrained (but well-mannered dog) and teach/train, on camera, an array of skills common among psychiatric service dogs, including but not limited to:
  • Notifications via vigorous licking, repeated nudging, or lap laying
  • Reminders via barking, nudging, or pawing
  • Assistance activities such as turning on lights, checking rooms, or finding an exit
  • Interruptions or distractions
  • Barrier or protective guarding
  • Provide basic socialization and obedience training
  • Articulate on camera what is being taught and how someone can replicate the skills training at home
  • Assist with the development of a written psychiatric service dog training curriculum that accompanies the video footageRequirements
    • Be based in Los Angeles (preferred) or greater Southern California
    • Be articulate, well-spoken, and comfortable on camera
    • Have extensive experience training dogs, especially psychiatric service dogs
    • Be able to provide a portfolio, training clips, and/or recommendations/reviews of demonstrated success training dogs
    • Have an original, pre-created curriculum for psychiatric service animals (nice to have)
