Roles & Responsibilities Perform casting and splinting procedures (fiberglass/synthetic) with correct molding and patient comfort as a priority Operate cast saw safely; remove, trim, univalve, wedge and window casts as indicated Fit braces, immobilizers, crutches and canes; provide gait training and clear patient education for safe ambulation Assist clinicians with sterile dressing techniques, debridements and pin insertions when needed Remove sutures and manage basic wound care per clinical protocols Document all patient encounters and procedures accurately in EPIC Float between Tarzana and Mission Hills locations to maintain continuity of care during coverage needs Collaborate with orthopedic providers and clinic staff to maintain efficient outpatient workflows and excellent patient outcomes Qualifications NBCOT OTC certification required (Certified OR Tech substitutions not accepted) Minimum 2 years of orthopedic technician experience, with outpatient experience required Proficiency with EPIC charting preferred/required Hands-on experience with casts, splints, cast saw operation, brace fitting, crutch fitting, gait training, suture removal, and sterile dressing techniques Willingness and ability to float between clinic locations (Tarzana and Mission Hills) Pending state license not accepted; active/appropriate credentials required Medical Assistant certification is a plus First-time travelers accepted; locals encouraged to apply Education High school diploma or equivalent NBCOT OTC certification required Knowledge & Skills Strong knowledge of orthopedic casting techniques and splint fabrication Skilled in cast saw operation and cast removal/trim/univalve procedures Experience with braces, immobilizers and assistive-device fitting Excellent patient education and gait-training abilities Comfortable with sterile technique, basic wound care and suture removal Familiarity with EPIC electronic health record documentation Able to work independently, adapt quickly, and float between clinic sites Benefits A supportive, collaborative outpatient team that values your skills and growth Predictable Monday–Friday day schedule for strong work/life balance Licensure assistance and certification reimbursement to keep you current Travel-friendly assignment — locals and travelers are welcome Paid orientation (40 hours) to set you up for success Opportunities for professional development and cross-training in orthopedic procedures Travel reimbursement and housing assistance available for eligible travelers Ability to request pre-approved time off (two requests allowed) Travel Perks: Explore Tarzana, CA Based in Tarzana in the San Fernando Valley, you’ll be surrounded by great dining and local vibes along Ventura Boulevard.
