Job Summary:

To establish guidance for HIV Pre-exposure Prophylaxis (PrEP) by Registered Nurses upon receiving a physician's authorization to manage his/her patients under protocol by initiating the HIV PrEP Protocol and monitor PrEP for HIV-negative patients at high risk of HIV infection.

Objective:

To initiate HIV PrEP Protocol and treatment (if indicated) and monitor HIV status, adverse effects to medication, medication adherence, kidney function, screening for sexually transmitted infections (STI), and encourage behavioral risk-reduction throughout the duration of treatment.


Required Qualifications:
--- 1+ year acute care nursing with last 5 years
--- Phlebotomy and IV proficiency
--- ACRN Certification

Preferred Qualifications:
--- 3-5 years of nursing experience in ambulatory care
--- Experience with CS Link/Epic

Job Duties:
--- Assess appropriate patient care need in a variety of patient populations
--- Document pertinent nursing assessment including physical and psycho-social findings on all assigned patients
--- Plan patient care and education based on disease process, anticipated patient outcomes, complications of treatments, and psycho-social needs in collaboration with other healthcare team members
--- Provide appropriate referrals to other interdisciplinary healthcare team members
