The Clinical Supervisor, Operations supports the physician and clinical staff in the delivery of health care by performing operational oversight responsibilities, human resource responsibilities, as well as patient care assessments, and a variety of medically related tasks. The Supervisor works in an administrative role in an ambulatory care setting and performs both administrative duties and clinical services as needed or requested. Job Duties and Responsibilities: Oversight of Clinical Functions: 1. Coordinates all administrative (back office) clinical functions of the medical practice(s). 2. Assists in the development, review, and revision of standard operating policies and procedures in collaboration with senior management. 3. Maintains vital staff certifications and licensing requirements. 4. Performs administrative functions as needed, which can include answering and triaging telephone calls for patient care matters, functioning as a liaison between physicians, patients and staff, chart preparation for clinical care, and assisting with and functioning as a liaison to front office functions. 5. Coordinates or serves as liaison, for administrative support activities including facilities management, pharmacy, utilization management, quality management, risk management, human resources, and payroll. 6. Controls wage and non-wage expenses, including pharmacy and medical supplies, in accordance with budgetary guidelines. 7. Works in a collaborative role with the management team, staff and physicians in the clinical practices, as well as related departments throughout the organization. 8. Function as key point person in research, setup and implementation of new procedures, workflows, equipment, as needed or requested Patient Care (as requested or needed): 1. Fulfill back office staff functions as needed. 2. Greet patients and provide an initial clinical evaluation. 3. Manages patient care flow and takes a leadership role within the suite. 4. Prepare patients for provider, with chart and room prep. 5. Take appropriate vital signs and record in medical record. 6. Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs. 7. Assist provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed. 8. Perform designated diagnostic tests as advised by provider. 9. Draw, prepare designated lab work and/or specimens as advised by provider. 10. Administer immunization, injections, oral or IV medications as advised by provider. 11. Use PRN/Smart Talk systems to convey lab results to patients as defined by provider. 12. Assist in follow-up scheduling needs. 13. Answer patient calls in timely manner. 14. Prepare charts as needed, including filing into appropriate sections of medical record and ensures that all pertinent items are available to provider before patient care commences. 15. Demonstrate ability to understand and assist two or more providers with clinical care. 16. Handles all designated clinical care telephone interactions with provider input. 17. Communicates all significant clinical findings to MD. 18. Serves as an advocate for patient and utilizes appropriate resources. Supervisory Responsibilities:

  • The Clinical Supervisor, Operations carries out supervisory responsibilities in relation to practice staff in accordance with the organizations policies and applicable laws. Other duties may be assigned as needed. Responsibilities may include: 1. Interviewing, hiring, and training new employees. 2. Planning, assigning, directing work and determining work hours. 3. Appraising performance and assist in staff development. 4. Partnering with management in the recognition of staff achievements and communication of areas of concern. 5. Partnering with management in addressing patient, physician, and staff concerns and resolving problems accordingly. 6. Ensuring a safe environment for staff and patients, participate in organizations safety committee and implement recommendations as required. 7. Understanding and enforcing the organizations patient care standards and requirements, including areas such as safety and quality assurance as is appropriate. 8. Manage the physician and nurses schedules to provide quality care and services, recommending schedule improvements as needed. 9. Assist management with the monitoring of performance measures and designing methods for improving the quality of care and service
