The role of Market Manager ('MM') is to lead, develop and develop a team of Wealth Center Managers (WCM), Investment Consultants (IC) and Relationship Managers (RM) and any other assigned licensed persons, as well as collaborate with the Mortgage and Lending sales team to ensure achievement of the business objectives and key performance indicators of his/her assigned market. The MM has a central role to play in effectively leading and implementing change as an integral part of delivering the Wealth and Personal Banking ("WPB") strategy. The MM has the role as the FINRA supervisory principal to provide reasonable supervision of the activities of his/her assigned licensed personnel in accordance with applicable regulation and HSBC Securities written supervisory policies. The Market Manager will supervise the effective implementation of a Wealth Management-led Premium Bank strategy to drive and grow profitable Premium relationships while also identifying and cultivating relationships across all segments. The role will also have accountability for mortgage related activities. This role will have responsibility to collaborate with a team of loan consultants passionate about inbound and outbound telephone sales activities to meet customer needs for mortgage products, including purchase, refinance, home equity lines and loans of credit, ancillary mortgage services and retail deposit cross-sell of relationship checking to acquire, retain and expand account relationships. Here's what you might expect on a typical day:

  • Lead your team to deliver the key performance indicators (KPIs) and plan
  • Ensure sales activity management and the sales processes are used to effectively meet customer needs
  • Lead and mentor a team of licensed sales personnel within a designated market, the sales process model, personal financial review, product knowledge and accurate sales techniques of traditional and non-traditional products to current and potential clients to expand customer relationships, meet established sales objectives and contribute to maximized economic profit
  • This role requires strong leadership and collaboration to ensure that loan consultants are successful
  • Monitor and act on sales activity management information and other internal information tools, using them to mentor your team and achieve the business goals
  • Identify and act on factors that would increase local competitiveness
  • Business Performance metrics
  • Utilize the principles and guidelines in the operating model to ensure customer needs are identified and where appropriate FCs use the support provided by specialists
  • Personally lead the application of EDRAS, client funnel management and sales quality standards
  • Accompany sales personnel on calls for larger or more complex accounts and/or clients
  • Implement customer relationship and proposition strategies Requirements Employment eligibility to work with HSBC in the U.S. is required as the company will not pursue visa sponsorship for these positions
    • Bachelor's degree in business, finance, related field or equivalent experience.
    • Minimum of ten years proven wealth management sales experience or equivalent, including a minimum of three years' sales management experience or equivalent.
    • Series 7, 9, 10, 63, 65 (or 66 in lieu of the 63 and 65) and Life and Health insurance licenses
    • Solid understanding of the mortgage banking industry, mortgage products, investor underwriting and compliance guidelines
    • Minimum of five years proven and progressive mortgage sales experience or equivalent, emphasizing supervisory or management experience or equivalent; previous mortgage underwriting experience preferred
    • Strong managerial, sales, analytical, decision-making, and communications skills.
    • Strong knowledge of businesses managed; products and services delivered, operations supporting them and pertinent regulations affecting their delivery.
    • Proven track record in team leadership and management
    • Proven track record in relationship management in the Wealth Management sector
    • Demonstrate behaviors consistent with HSBC Values
    • Proven adherence to controls and compliance with no significant breaches
    • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a particular emphasis upon inspiring, influencing and negotiating
    • Coaching sales techniques, best practice and sales management on a team and one to one basis
    • Planning and organizing skills
