Role: The Staff Accountant is an integral part of the MRC
Accounting team, reporting directly to the Accounting Director. MRC
is a highly cross-functional organization, and the Staff Accountant
will work with colleagues across all functional areas and
divisions, learning the business inside-and-out. The primary
responsibilities include the day-to-day completion of Corporate
Accounting functions (e.g., Accounts Receivable, Cash Application,
Account Reconciliation, Journal Entries, Variance Analysis, etc.)
and support of period-end financial close and the management
reporting process. A successful candidate has strong analytical
skills, strong Generally Accepted Accounting Principles [GAAP]
accounting knowledge, prioritizes and manages multiple tasks at
once, has a strong desire to learn, and thrives in a fast-paced,
entrepreneurial environment. Responsibilities:
- Assist in the quarterly and monthly financial close process and
support the preparation of internal management reporting and
analysis.
- Account Reconciliation and resolution of differences
- Improve cash forecasting
- Assist in the quarterly financial statements and preparation of
the annual footnotes.
- Support the Audit during the annual financial statement audit
and 3rd party participation audits.
- Track and report financial commitments across divisions.
- Support team on ad-hoc projects
- Help identify and drive impactful process improvements.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Minimum 2 years of public accounting experience required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, with a stellar academic
record
- Strong technical GAAP background and experience with financial
statement preparation
- Big Four public accounting experience and/or entertainment
industry experience is preferrable
- A CPA or CPA in progress is a plus
- Must be Experienced with Excel
- Intellectual curiosity, strong desire to learn, and a passion
for media, entertainment, and technology
- Detail oriented with project management skills
- Strong independent problem-solving skills with ability to
thrive in a fast-paced and entrepreneurial environment
- Strong work ethic, high sense of urgency, and ability to excel
at detail-oriented tasks while maintaining a high-level view.MRC
